2022 College Excellence Awards

Each year, the College of Fine and Applied Arts requests nominations for the College Excellence Awards. These awards recognize faculty and staff who have demonstrated excellence and have made a positive impact on our college, students, units, and community. The recipients are selected by the FAA Executive Committee.

Academic Professional Award for Excellence

The Academic Professional Award for Excellence recognizes members of staff who have a record of sustained professional excellence, significant positive impacts, and innovative contributions to their unit and college.

The 2022 recipient of the Academic Professional Award for Excellence is La Tanya Cobb. La Tonya is the associate director of student services in the School of Architecture.

Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising

The Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising recognizes exceptional and sustained performance in academic advising and the advisor’s significant positive impacts on undergraduate students.

The 2022 recipient of the Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising is Bryan VanGinhoven. Bryan is an academic advisor in the School of Art & Design.

Distinguished Staff Award

The Distinguished Staff Award recognizes Civil Service staff members who exhibit initiative and creativity resulting in improved operations in their unit, promote a respectful and supportive workplace, and act as mentors and role models for others.

The recipient of the 2022 Distinguished Staff Award is Julia Kelly, Assistant Director for Marketing and Communication at Krannert Art Museum.

Faculty Award for Excellence in Service

The Faculty Award for Excellence in Service recognizes faculty who have made especially significant contributions of leadership and service to their home unit or the college, or to agencies, schools, communities, businesses, or other external groups or individuals.

The recipient of the 2022 Faculty Award for Excellence in Service is Jeffrey Jenkins, Professor in the Department of Theatre.

Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching

The Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching recognizes faculty who have demonstrated consistent excellent performance in teaching, a demonstrable positive impact on students in the classroom and through advising and mentoring, the use of innovative approaches in teaching, and significant contributions to the development of curricula.

The 2022 recipient of the Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching is Tere O’Connor, Professor in the Department of Dance.

Faculty Award for Excellence in Research (Assistant Professor)

The Faculty Award for Excellence in Research recognizes faculty members who have amassed a distinguished record of research and creative work, as demonstrated through publications, performances, or exhibitions; distinguished fellowships; successful grant applications; and invited presentations or performances. Two levels of this honor recognize excellence at different career points. One recognizes faculty at the Associate and Full Professor rank and one recognizes faculty at the Assistant Professor rank.

As mentioned above, the Faculty Award for Excellence in Research recognizes faculty at different career points.

The recipient of a 2022 Faculty Award in Excellence in Research for associate and full professors is Yvonne Redman, Associate Professor of Voice in the School of Music.

Specialized Faculty Award for Excellence

The Specialized Faculty Award for Excellence recognizes instructors, lecturers, clinical and teaching professors who demonstrate excellence through their positive impact on students in the classroom, influential advising and mentoring, and innovative curricular development and teaching approaches.

The recipient of the 2022 Specialized Faculty Award for Excellence is AnnaMarie Bliss, Lecturer in the School of Architecture.
