The Chicago Sukkah Design Festival has become a vibrant celebration of art, architecture, and cultural exchange, rooted in the Jewish tradition of building sukkahs during the holiday of Sukkot.

Internationally renowned architect and College of Fine and Applied Arts alumna Jeanne Gang (BSAS ’86) delivered an inspiring commencement address to over 7,000 graduates at the University of Illinois’ Memorial Stadium on May 11, 2024.

The Illinois School of Architecture’s flagship study abroad program has a rich history that spans over 50 years and four generations. The program, which began at La Napoule, moved to Versailles, and is currently in Barcelona, provides a unique opportunity to live and study in an architecturally vibrant overseas environment while making lifelong friends and memories.

The School of Architecture is incredibly grateful for the recent establishment of the FGM Architects Scholarship Endowment Fund. This scholarship is unique in that recipients have the opportunity to intern at the firm while enrolled in school.

Alumnus John M. Gay established the JAQ’D Architecture Scholarship Fund in 2022 to support graduate students within the Illinois School of Architecture with an interest or design concentration in either sustainability, parametric design, rhythmic architecture, or biophilic design.

Jami Becker (MArch ‘95, BS ’90 GIES) was on the original design team for the first The Sims computer game that launched in 2000 and quickly became one of the top selling video games in history, setting a new precedent for design and game behavior in the early 21st century. The artwork for that game, in all its pixelated glory, is now in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The Illinois School of Architecture is pleased to announce the new Ralph E. Johnson Professorship in Design. Alumnus Ralph Johnson (BSAS ’71) established this endowed professorship to support the school in attracting and retaining the most brilliant scholars in the field of architectural education.

The RATIO Design Prize was established through the generosity of Architecture alumnus William (Bill) Browne, Jr., FAIA (BS ’77). Browne is the chief executive officer and founding principal architect for RATIO Architects LLC headquartered in Indianapolis, IN.
